Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past five years, you’ve probably already heard of minimalism. Minimalism describes movements in various forms of art and design, especially visual art and music, where the work is stripped down to its most fundamental features.

Hooray! It’s Saturday today, and this means there’s a new logo of the week. This time I’ve selected a really elegant and stylish logo. This great logo was made by Alterego. This is still a work in progress, but it looks good so far. Unfortunately, I don’t have very much information about the client.

Very few graphic designers are as talented as Niark1. He’s a graphic designer from Paris, France. During his career he has made flyers, logo’s stickers, illustrations, covers and much more for well known brands such as Eastpak, Burton, Aides. Some of you might recognize him from the Computer Arts Projects cover (issue 121, March 2009).

We already looked at a collection of beautiful new logo’s. Today we take a look at the other side; some not so great logo redesigns. Some companies spent millions redesigning their logo, but new logo is sometimes even worse than the original.

Some of the logo’s in this article aren’t that bad, but I’ve added them because they could potentially be even better. Other logos are just hopeless…

Frank Uyttenhove is an exeptionally talented photographer and film director from Belgium. Thanks to his eye for detail and his amazing photo manipulation skills, he was able to produce these awesome photographs. Some of you might have seen some of his creations in magazines.

This cute logo was made by Jerron Ames, a 36 year old graphic designer who specializes in logo design. He made this logo for Shutterbug, a photography studio mainly for children.

I really like the creative idea behind this logo and the execution of it. Also notice the subtle detail on the last letter of the brand.
