I never thought that you could accomplish ecommerce sites with WordPress… it’s such a versatile tool and getting better all the time.

Yes, with a plugin.
There is Shopp and WP-eCommerce out there. Neither is perfect IMHO, but they’re cheap/free.

Nice list of ecommerce themes. Every theme has its own preferred products for posting. This will be very helpful for those people who want to stand a business online.
I haven’t tried to skin a wordpress ecommerce store as yet but there is certainly potential. We’ve found there is quite a lot of flexibility in Magento system even if it is a little bit unstable at times.
However these wordpress skins are really top notch and their great for those on a tight budget.

Strongly advised avoiding ShopperPress, the developer has some pretty suspicious activities, including posting a non-functional ad-ware version of his product to the WordPress Plugin Repository.

As great for saving time as WordPress Themes are – I still don’t think you can beat the satisfaction of designing a beautiful custom site yourself. I’m looking into using the Crafty Cart theme for my own store, but I don’t like the idea that there might be several other sites out there with the exact same look.
I tried to get to Cherry Cart website but can’t that theme for sale anymore?
Have they gone out of business or something?

Really the Clothes Shop theme? I’ve worked with it and it’s terrible. Debug errors all over the place, code that doesn’t work (I spent a week fixing things with no developer response). It’s terrible.
